Farm Credit Services of America Scholarship Program for Academic Year 2008-2009
Farm Credit Services of America offers multiple annual $2,000 scholarships to outstanding students at four land grant universities including Iowa State University, University of Nebraska at Lincoln, South Dakota State University and University of Wyoming.
How to Apply: Students who meet the selection criteria complete Farm Credit Services of America's Scholarship Application. Applications are available at the participating colleges or click here to download the application. Applicants must also write a 1 to 2 page essay explaining their career plans following graduation. Applications and essays are then given to the universities for screening. The top applications from each university are forwarded to the Farm Credit Services of America for final scholarship selections.
After the winners are determined, Farm Credit Services of America notifies the recipients by letter indicating that a $1,000 payment will be sent to the university in the fall and $1,000 in the spring.
Selection Criteria: - College junior or senior in good academic standing for the academic year scholarship is received.
- Enrolled in the College of Agriculture with course work emphasis in agribusiness or economics, or enrolled in the College of Business Administration with course work emphasis in agribusiness, finance, accounting or economics.
- Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 preferred.
- Preference is given to residents of Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota or Wyoming.
- One- to two-page essay on how the applicant plans to use his/her major in the chosen career (which must be in an agribusiness-related field).
- Agricultural background or work-related experience in agriculture.
